Brisbane, Australia resident Kathy Raydings has found her calling at 57-years-old.

Since driving Uber in January, she’s been dubbed as “Grandma Uber” and is on a mission to make sure young girls around her area get home safe.

She drives over 70 hours per week and caters to almost 500 passengers in that time.

Kathy left her previous job due to a “serious work accident.” With bills piling up, she needed to do something fast. “I needed to find a way to work for myself, doing something that I enjoyed,” Kathy shared.
She decided to become a driver, then quickly found joy in it.

Kathy adds that she’s heard “so many horrendous stories of young women suffering sexual assault when all they are trying to do is finish their night, be sensible and go home to their parents. It’s my calling to get them home.”
Not only is she Brisbane’s very own Superman on wheels, she’s also an absolute sweetheart.

Her car is full of lollies, biscuits, baked goods, and energy drinks.

She tells her passengers that rides with her are a no-judgment-zone and that they’re free to talk, laugh, listen to music and have fun on the way to their destination.
“I go to bed at night knowing that I am making some small, positive difference to these girls’ lives, and it’s the best feeling in the whole world.”
