Guinness World Record’s Oldest Dog, Pebbles, Dies at 22

Pebbles, the world’s oldest dog, died just months before her 23rd birthday in Taylors, South Carolina.

Pebbles died quietly from natural causes on Monday, Oct. 3, according to her Instagram page.

Guinness World Records named Pebbles the oldest living dog in May of this year, stating:  “When Taylors, SC residents Bobby and Julie Gregory decided to welcome a puppy into their family, they had no idea that over two decades later, their treasured Pebbles would hold a record title for the oldest living dog.”

“Born 28 March 2000, the four-pound Toy Fox Terrier is an astonishing 22 years and 59 days old and still showing the world that anything is paw-sible.”

According to the social media post, Pebbles had 32 puppies in her lifespan and spent her days listening to country music and being adored.

The Gregorys continue to pay tribute to their beloved friend by saying:  “It was our honor to have had the blessing to have her as our pet and family member. She will be deeply missed.”

Pebbles, who was born on March 28, 2000 on Long Island, New York, USA, shocked the world when her age was revealed.

Following the identification of the previous oldest dog surviving, TobyKeith, the Gregorys learned that Pebbles was really older than him and could thus break the record.
