Just moments after killing Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s mother, Nicholas Godejohn acted on his sinister sexual desire.
While Claudine ‘Dee Dee’ Blanchard was asleep, her daughter, then 23, let her then 25-year-old boyfriend inside with the explicit plan for him to murder her mom.
Under the cover of night, he sneaked into Dee Dee’s room and stabbed her 17 times, but his offenses didn’t stop there.
Before delving deeper, let’s briefly review the case.
Gypsy Rose was subjected to ‘Munchausen syndrome by proxy’ by her mother, a condition where someone exaggerates, fakes, or induces illness for attention.
Dee Dee took advantage of this situation, gaining financial benefits and social advantages by portraying Gypsy as a sick child.
Days passed before police discovered Dee Dee’s body at her home in Springfield, Missouri. Initially, they believed Gypsy had been abducted, as many thought she couldn’t walk.
Authorities eventually traced the IP address of a Facebook post stating “that b***h is dead,” revealing that Gypsy was alive and on the run with her boyfriend, after determining they had written it.
Gypsy and Nick met on an online Christian chat room and grew close. After Dee Dee disapproved of their relationship and continued to control Gypsy’s life, the couple conspired to murder her.
Nick was found guilty of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison. Gypsy was convicted of second-degree murder and sentenced to 10 years.
After serving seven years, she was released in December. She has since divorced her husband Ryan Anderson and is now pregnant with her boyfriend, Ken Urker.
In 2019, Nick appeared in the Oxygen documentary Killer Couples and discussed the night of the murder.
He revealed that shortly after killing Dee Dee, he enacted one of his sexual fantasies, with Gypsy cleaning the blood from a wound on his finger and the two having sex.
“The very second I put my foot down, I had one of those moments that you might only have once in your lifetime,” he said.
“It was an angel and the devil. First, the angel spoke — it actually said, ‘Take her and run’, and then you had the other part of me, that darn devil. What he ended up telling me was, ‘This b***h is dead’.”

“I got so darn enraged that something inside of me clicked. Unfortunately, that part of me wanted to come out for a very long time and the very first opportunity it got, it didn’t waste any time.”
“That dark shadow part of me that really is triggered by anger; once that anger clicks, I see red.”
When asked if he had any regrets, the killer responded no.
“I would’ve done it again. I might have done it differently but I would’ve done it again,” he continued. “I couldn’t see [Gypsy Rose] suffer anymore.”
