Hailie Jade reveals one of the hardest things about growing up as Eminem’s daughter

Eminem’s daughter, Hailie Jade, recently opened up about the complexities of being the child of a global superstar. In her words, there are both perks and pitfalls to having the ‘Lose Yourself’ rapper as her dad.

Being mentioned in dozens of Eminem’s tracks, Hailie is no stranger to the spotlight. Her father’s latest album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce), features a particularly moving song titled ‘Temporary,’ which is dedicated to Hailie for when Eminem is no longer around. The emotional track has even brought some fans to tears.

“The truth is, I think what scares me the most is not being able to say all the things I wanna say to you when I’m no longer here,” Eminem reveals in the song. “So, this song is for Hailie, for when that day comes.”

The bond between Eminem and Hailie appears incredibly strong, yet Hailie admits that her father’s fame does come with challenges. On her Just a Little Shady podcast, during a Q&A session, she discussed how she feels about constantly being asked about her famous dad.

“The best way to say this is yes and no,” Hailie responded. “It’s to a point. I obviously expect it and there are certain things I can understand why people are just genuinely curious about as anyone would be when you’ve grown up half in the spotlight.”

She further explained the delicate balance she tries to maintain: “Once it gets past that point though I’m like ‘I’m a person too, I think I have more to offer than just my dad’. So it becomes tricky, I get it.”

“I feel like growing up when it would happen I would get more bothered by it because I was like ‘why do people care’,” she continued, reflecting on her earlier experiences.

Apart from Hailie, Eminem has also adopted two other children, Alaina and Stevie, further adding to his family. Alaina became a part of their family in 1993 following legal issues faced by her biological mother, while Stevie, who is genderfluid, was adopted by Eminem in 2005.

All three of Eminem’s children make a cameo in the music video for his new song ‘Houdini,’ where they humorously react to being called ‘brats’ by their dad. Despite the jest, anyone familiar with Eminem’s music knows this is light-hearted compared to his usual lyrical fare.
