This Touching Photo Story Of A Sick Dog’s Last Day Will Leave You In Tears

This beauty right here is Hannah. She’s an American pit bull terrier-Labrador mix.

Two months ago, Hannah’s health started to be a problem. For over a year, her hips got weaker and weaker. She couldn’t walk properly without medication.

But her pills caused seizures, and her liver suffered.

Hannah’s owner of 11 years, 24-year-old Kyle Amick, took her off the meds, but the seizures didn’t stop, they only got worse.

Last week, Kyle and her mom felt that it wasn’t fair to Hannah anymore, to suffer on most of her days. They decided it was time to let her go.

“Putting her down was the worst thing I’ve had to choose in my life,” Kyle shared.

“Hannah Bear was my best friend and by far the greatest dog I’ve had in my life. Making the choice to part with her won’t ever leave my heart.”

On Hannah’s last day, Kyle gave her extra medication to get through the day and took her to PetSmart, where she works, for a bath.

“I wanted Hannah to have a day to herself, be a queen one last time.”

“We took a long drive home to enjoy the treats I got her and so she could stick her head out the window.”

“Hannah loved food, any of it.”

“She was very smart and always up for cuddling or playing.”

Hannah even had one last play time with her dog best friend.

“She seemed to be a bundle of energy when we brought Vinny out to play with her.”

“Vinny’s been her buddy for nearly nine years.”

Because of Hannah’s weak state, play time wasn’t as fun as it used to be.

“Every time she bounded after him, she would have to lay down and get off her feet.”

“When it got too much for her, I took her upstairs to paint her nails and then we went to my room so she could lay with me until it was time to go.”

“I don’t think there was a single person there at the vet that didn’t cry with us,” Kyle shared.

Kyle documented her brave pup’s last day on Snapchat and posted it privately to her Facebook account and shared it to a group page for PetSmart employees.

After a few of her coworkers asked to share Hannah’s story, she made the post on her profile public. The next day, her story had been shared more than 100,000 times.

Kyle was surprised that it had been shared by so many people.

“I really wasn’t quite sure at first if I like that or not. It’s been hard to log on and see her all over, but I’m glad she’s touching so many hearts.”

“She held mine for so many years, and still does.”

Rest well, dear Hannah.
