If you’re planning to criticize Tom Cruise, be cautious because Hannah Waddingham is ready to defend him.
Being a celebrity often exposes one to public scrutiny and criticism, where people might highlight your flaws or express their dislike.
However, Waddingham has made it clear that taking a jab at Cruise will not sit well with her.
The Game of Thrones actress joined the Mission Impossible series for the upcoming film, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, collaborating closely with Cruise.
Originally slated for a June 2024 release, the film has been postponed to May 2025. Fans will have to wait until then to see Cruise reprise his role as Ethan Hunt.
During the film’s promotion, Waddingham appeared on ITV’s James Martin’s Saturday Morning Christmas episode, making it clear she won’t tolerate any negative remarks about Cruise.
She mentioned that she can’t disclose her character’s role in the film, but it allowed her to spend ‘five really intensive days’ with the actor.
Waddingham also hinted at a ‘kind of big scene’ with Cruise that hasn’t been shot yet, but their time together on set was enough for her to form a bond with him. She told Martin, “I have to say, I have a real problem with anybody that goes at [Tom Cruise] now.
“Having met him and having spent five days intensely… he is without doubt one of the loveliest and encouraging, positive and inspiring human beings I have ever met. Isn’t he gorgeous?
“I have no time for anyone saying anything about him.”
In a conversation with SirusXM, Waddington shared her anticipation for scenes involving an actual flight carrier, as her father was in the River Police during her upbringing.
She told Cruise and director Christopher McQuarrie, “I know this world so much. I’ve got this down. Don’t worry. I’m used to brushing my teeth in a tiny little cabin.”
The upcoming release of Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning is likely to be a welcome moment for Cruise, especially after his last film, Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One, faced stiff competition from the Barbenheimer wave.
During the summer, Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer and Greta Gerwig’s Barbie dominated the box office, particularly in IMAX screenings, sidelining Dead Reckoning.
