Harry Potter Actor Warned He Might ‘Never Walk or Talk’ Again Following Shocking Diagnosis

Nick Moran, known for his role as Scabior in the Harry Potter series, had to have emergency surgery after discovering that neck pain he experienced was actually something more critical.

In addition to his appearance in Harry Potter, Moran is recognized for his roles in films such as Guy Ritchie’s Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Accident Man, and The Musketeer.

According to Terry Stone, a friend of Moran, the actor had been experiencing neck pain. Despite his partner’s advice to seek medical attention, Moran initially opted to manage it with some heat treatment.

Stone later revealed that Moran eventually saw his doctor, leading to a quick trip to the emergency room. There, it was determined that the 55-year-old actor needed surgery for a condition that was potentially life-threatening.

Discussing the situation, Stone shared with MailOnline: “I spoke to one of his family members and he damaged his neck somehow and it’s affecting his spinal cord and some of the things that operate your speech and your legs.”

Further explaining the gravity of the situation, Stone mentioned that doctors warned Moran that without the surgery, he might lose the ability to walk or talk.

Ultimately, Moran underwent the surgery where four bones were removed from his neck.

Providing an update on Moran’s recovery, Stone told the outlet: “He’s recovering but [doctors] basically said [ahead of surgery] that he might never walk or talk again, which was traumatic. He’s not in the best of health, but when he came out of the operation I was like ‘thank god’ because I think he’d decided he’d rather not walk or talk than die’.

Stone added: “They had to replace [bones in his neck] with artificial bone, it was micro surgery and because there’s so many nerves around the neck and spine this made the operation tricky with those awful chances of not being able to speak or walk again.”

Following Stone’s remarks, Moran’s representative provided a statement to UNILAD, mentioning that there had been some incorrect reports concerning the actor’s health. He confirmed that the actor had surgery a little over a week and a half ago and is now home, recuperating fully while being able to walk and talk.

“Nick will be back working on his next film shortly and is looking forward to being back studio tending to his busy schedule,” he said.

Expressing gratitude, the representative added: “Nick would like to thank all of the well-wishers and assure them that he is well and appreciative for their support.”
