Harry Potter actress who launched an OnlyFans to ‘escape debt’ discusses the ‘shame’ she experiences

Earlier this year, a former Harry Potter actress revealed her decision to join OnlyFans, and she has now opened up about her experiences, admitting to feeling a ‘sense of shame’.

In March, Jessie Cave, who portrayed Lavender Brown in the Harry Potter series, announced her entry into the OnlyFans platform, but with a unique approach.

Although OnlyFans is often associated with adult content, Cave clarified that her focus was different, targeting a niche audience instead.

Her content revolves around ‘hair stuff,’ where she styles and tends to her hair in front of the camera.

She expressed her hopes that this venture would be financially rewarding and acknowledged it as a ‘fetish’ for some.

Upon announcing her decision, she detailed her objectives on her substack page.

She wrote: “One year. I’ll try for one year. My aim? To get the house safe, cover the arsenic/lead wallpaper, build a new roof etc.

“My aim? To get out of debt. My aim? To empower myself? To prove to those in the past who have misjudged me that I’m not so sweet? To put time into something I never invested in before: self-love.”

However, she has recently shared a more candid reflection on her journey, revealing it hasn’t been entirely smooth.

On her substack page once more, she confessed to feeling a bit of shame and discomfort with the transition.

She wrote: “It’s gotten a little nasty. I feel a little gross, a little scared. I am receiving too many lurid messages and don’t like being sent unsolicited d***s.

“No matter how many times I say I am not doing sexual content, I get a message within two seconds asking to see cm in my hair or if I would just please f**ing consider full frontal.”

Addressing her ‘sense of shame,’ she added: “It’s proof of my failure to make (or rather, keep hold of) money as an actress and writer. I’ve got nothing to show for 18 years of work in the arts industry.

“I’ve rented for 18 years and drained all my money on that and self-funding my YouTube videos or Edinburgh shows.”

Additionally, Cave mentioned feeling stuck in a repetitive cycle on the platform.

She explained: “I dread the evenings because I know I have to message rather than zone out watching tv.

“I’ve stopped reading because I feel like it’s not using my time efficiently: any spare moment when I’m not with the kids I should be making money and keeping my fans subscribed.

“I’m on a content treadmill and I can’t get off, send help.”
