Harry Potter extra claims actor ‘spat in her eyes’ during deleted scene

An extra who appeared in the Harry Potter series has disclosed an unpleasant experience involving another cast member ‘spitting’ in her eyes.

This incident occurred in a deleted scene from the fourth movie, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

Samantha Clinch, who frequently posts on TikTok about her time as an extra in the Harry Potter series, shared this story.

With around 37,000 followers, Samantha often delves into behind-the-scenes anecdotes from the franchise.

In one of her posts, she recounted a scene where there was an urgent announcement about the ‘dementors’ approaching.

During this particular scene, Samantha interacted with the late Sir Michael Gambon.

Gambon, who took on the role of Dumbledore starting from the third film after Richard Harris’s death, was known for his passionate acting.

Samantha remembered that his fervor during filming led to her receiving a face full of spit.

She recounted: “In Goblet of Fire, there’s a moment where they need to announce that the dementors are coming, and obviously this is absolutely terrifying, terrifying news for everyone involved.

“Anyway, he comes over to the table that I’m at and puts his hand on my shoulder, looks at me directly in the face, and said, ‘The dementors are coming!’”

She added: “Dumbledore spat in my eyes. Quite literally frothing at the mouth […] there was spit everywhere […] I might have got it in my eye.”

And they say acting is a glamorous job.

Samantha noted that the scene was ultimately cut from the film, but the memory remains with her.

Reflections on Harry Potter are not uncommon among the cast.

Miriam Margolyes, another Harry Potter alumna, has shared her thoughts on the series’ enduring legacy, expressing concern for adult fans who remain deeply attached to it.

Speaking to New Zealand broadcaster, 1News, Miriam stated: “I worry about Harry Potter fans because they should be over that by now.

“It was 25 years ago and it’s for children – I think it’s for children.”

She also expressed particular concern about people who have Harry Potter-themed weddings, saying: “They get stuck in it. I do Cameos, and people say, ‘We’re having a Harry Potter-themed wedding, and I think, ‘Gosh, what’s their first night of fun going to be?’ I can’t even think about it. No.”
