A specialist has disclosed that a frequently neglected lifestyle habit can significantly enhance your sex life.
Various factors such as health issues, medications, work-related stress, and fatigue can negatively impact one’s libido.
However, adopting a straightforward daily practice might enhance your sexual experiences without the need for supplements or intricate routines.
This revelation aligns with new research from leading sexual wellness brand, Lovehoney, indicating that a quarter of individuals have encountered muscle cramps during sex.
The issue extends beyond sex, as eight percent have faced cramps during masturbation. Millennial men seem particularly susceptible, with 35 percent reporting cramps during intercourse.
Fortunately, there’s a simple solution that has been shown to improve sexual satisfaction: 22 percent of people who adopted this lifestyle habit rated their sex lives as perfect, in contrast to only 13 percent who did not.
Moreover, the desire for sex increased as well: 66 percent of those who followed the habit reported a high libido, compared to 52 percent who did not.
What can you do to enhance your sexual satisfaction? It’s as simple as keeping your water bottle filled.
Lack of adequate hydration can lead to unexpected challenges in the bedroom, such as muscle cramps.
The recommended daily water intake is six to eight glasses, which supports overall health by regulating body temperature, lubricating joints, and aiding digestion.
Surprisingly, recent UK survey data reveals that many adults are not meeting these hydration levels, which is affecting their sex lives.
According to Lovehoney’s survey in collaboration with new electrolyte hydration brand SULT, 67 percent of Brits are drinking less than the recommended daily water intake, with eight percent consuming less than one glass.
The problem isn’t confined to the UK. A Yahoo News/YouGov poll reported that eight percent of US adults ‘rarely or never’ drink water, and a quarter consume just one to two glasses daily.
Hydration levels directly influence sexual desire and performance, with 38 percent of Brits reporting that dehydration decreases their interest in sex or self-pleasure.
The main reasons include low energy (61 percent) and dry mouth (38 percent), which are not exactly turn-ons.
Sarah Mulindwa, a sexual health & wellness expert at Lovehoney, explains the connection between dehydration and sexual activity.
“Hydration and libido are more interconnected than many realize. Staying hydrated supports proper blood flow, hormone regulation, and energy levels, all crucial for sexual arousal and performance.
“Consider water as your body’s natural fuel—when you’re low on fuel, so is your sex drive!
“This research indicates dehydration is one of the most overlooked obstacles in the bedroom.”
If you need motivation to keep your water bottle full, perhaps the prospect of improved sexual experiences will inspire you.
The Mayo Clinic suggests incorporating water into your daily routine, such as drinking a glass before brushing your teeth, with meals, or after using the restroom. Setting hydration reminders on your phone can also help maintain your hydration levels.
Enhancing your water with healthy additions like oranges, cucumber, watermelon, strawberries, and herbs can make it more appealing. Similar strategies might be beneficial in the bedroom as well…
Incorporating more water-rich fruits and vegetables—such as melon, cucumbers, lettuce, and celery—can also contribute to better hydration.
If you’re tech-inclined, consider using a smart water bottle that syncs with your phone to monitor your water intake.
Or, if you’re competitive, challenge a friend—or even better, your partner—to see who can achieve their ‘hydration goal’ more frequently. Yes, that’s a direct quote from Mayo Clinic… we’re just passing along the message.
