Heartbreaking Last Post of Teen, 17, Who Passed Away in Brother’s Arms After Being ‘Attacked’ at Track Meet

A 17-year-old student from Texas, named Austin Metcalf, lost his life after being stabbed. His last heartfelt post on Twitter, which highlighted his faith, has since come to the public’s attention.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, April 2, at approximately 10:00am. Frisco Police and Fire services were alerted to a situation at a track meet located at the 6900 block of Stadium Lane at Kuykendall Stadium in Frisco, Texas.

According to police reports, there was an “altercation between two students” that led to one student stabbing the other. Despite efforts to save his life, including CPR and the administration of blood, 17-year-old Austin Metcalf, who was attending the track and field event with his brother, succumbed to his injuries.

Family, friends, and the community have mourned the loss, describing the attack as “senseless.” Many people have taken to social media to honor Austin, finding solace in his final Twitter post.

Austin’s last tweet was posted on March 31 at approximately 11:46am and read: “Faith that god got me and my work will pay off.”

One Twitter user commented: “What a precious heart. He was taken from the world too soon. Although we may not understand the timing, I know God has him now.”

Another expressed: “Praying for Strength and Courage for the family and friends during this incredibly difficult time…”

A third person added: “May God be with you and watch over your family and friends right now.”

A GoFundMe campaign has been launched by Austin’s father, Jeff, to support the family in their healing process.

The GoFundMe message states: “He was a bright young man with a great future ahead of him. He was a leader of men. His smile would light up the room. His passion for football was unbelievable. Voted team MVP this past season and carried a 4.0 GPA.

“He was looking forward to taking his game to the next level. His commitment, dedication, leadership, and sheer grit made him rise to the level of success that he desired. His twin brother, Hunter, played beside him.

“We will all remember him for the way he impacted others’ lives. I love you forever, son. It’s not goodbye, it’s see you later. God will take care of us till we meet again. RIP. Love, Dad.”

Frisco Independent School District issued a statement: “Frisco ISD shares in the grief of everyone impacted by this heartbreaking loss, and we extend our deepest sympathies to the victim’s family, students, staff, and our community during this difficult time.”

Austin was attending the track and field event with his brother Hunter, who informed WFAA that the altercation began when Austin allegedly requested another student to vacate the school’s tent at the meet.

He told WFAA: “I tried to whip around as fast as I could, but I didn’t see the stab. It was really senseless. I don’t know why a person would do that to someone, just over that little argument.”

Frisco police have arrested and charged 17-year-old Karmelo Anthony in connection with the incident.

The department released a statement: “The Frisco Police Department grieves with all those affected by this devastating loss and extends its deepest condolences to the victim’s family, students, and staff who are experiencing unimaginable pain.”
