Hereditary disorder contributed to Days of Our Lives star Patrick Muldoon’s death

Patrick Muldoon’s official cause of death has now been confirmed, after the actor died on April 19 aged 57.

Muldoon, known for roles in projects including Saved By The Bell, Melrose Place and Starship Troopers, died from a heart attack, according to his death certificate.

The paperwork, issued by the County of Los Angeles Department of Public Health and reported by UsWeekly, also noted other medical issues linked to his death. These included a hereditary coagulopathy disorder — a rare condition that affects the body’s ability to clot blood properly — as well as pulmonary embolism, when a clot obstructs blood flow in an artery in the lungs.

The certificate also stated that Muldoon was cremated on Tuesday, April 28.

Muldoon’s sister, Shana Muldoon-Zappa, previously told TMZ that on the day he died, he had been at his Beverly Hills home and went to take a shower after having coffee with his girlfriend.

When she didn’t hear from him for some time, she went to check and found him unconscious on the bathroom floor, Muldoon-Zappa said.

Paramedics were called to the home but were unable to revive him, according to her account.

Muldoon is survived by his partner Miriam Rothbart, his parents Deanna and Patrick Muldoon Sr, and his sister and brother-in-law Shana and Ahmet Zappa, as well as his niece Halo and nephew Arrow Zappa.
