Hilaria Baldwin recently found herself at the center of a social media storm following a viral incident involving her and her husband, Alec Baldwin. She has since addressed the uproar.
The incident took place at the re-opening party for Planet Hollywood Times Square in New York, an event hosted by the couple. During their appearance on the red carpet, a video clip captured a moment where Hilaria seemed to reprimand Alec for interrupting her, repeatedly telling him, “When I’m talking, you’re not talking.”
Despite Alec’s attempt to compliment her, Hilaria chastised him for causing a distraction. The exchange drew criticism online, with many people expressing disapproval of Hilaria’s demeanor and treatment of Alec.
One Twitter user remarked: “I’m no Alec Baldwin fan, but this clip is shocking. On the red carpet, he’s building Hilaria up, saying ‘It’s gonna be great, you’re a winner’, and she snaps back aggressively: ‘No talking while I’m talking!’ TWICE.
“This is classic narcissistic control—public humiliation, dominance, & ensuring the spotlight is ONLY on her. He looks completely defeated.”
Another said: “Who humiliates their husband, let alone in public? Almost feel sorry for him.”
A third commented: “This might be why he is so miserable everyday. He should leave her.
“I am not fan of his either but what she did was very narcissistic and controlling.”
In response to the criticism, the couple addressed the situation through a lighthearted Instagram video, showing they weren’t taking the incident too seriously.
Hilaria humorously accused Alec of ‘manterrupting’, while Alec jokingly referred to his tendency as ‘correctile dysfunction’.
Hilaria explained: “The whole point is, we interrupt each other all the time.”
During the video, one of their children attempts to enter the room, and the couple concludes the video with a kiss.
Hilaria wrapped up by saying: “OK, so now that we’ve cleared all of that up, give me a kiss just so they know.”
Their humorous take on the incident seemed to resonate with some of Hilaria’s followers, who praised their relationship dynamic.
One commented: “You two are Great!! The love for one another and your children is a beautiful thing. I like Authenticity.”
Another added: “MANTERRUPTING” Making a teeshirt for my husband Today! It should help him in public.”
However, not everyone was convinced, with some criticizing the video as ineffective ‘damage control’ in light of the negative attention she received.
