Hilary Duff has addressed the speculation regarding a possible rift with her sister, Haylie Duff.
In her latest album, Luck… or Something, there is a particular song that fans believe touches on the dynamic between Hilary and her older sister.
The two sisters have not been seen in public together for more than six years, leading some fans to speculate that the track ‘We Don’t Talk’ might be about their alleged estrangement.
The lyrics go: “Don’t know when it happened / Not even sure what it was about.
“Cause we come from the same home, same blood.
“People ask me how you’re doing / I wanna say amazing, but the truth is that I don’t know / What I always end up saying is how we don’t talk / we don’t talk about it / We don’t talk about anything anymore.”

The song then suggests making peace, with Hilary singing: “Let’s have it out / I’ll hear you out, you’ll hear me out on the couch / Get back to how we were as kids / Let’s break it down / So sick of being so sad about / How we don’t talk and you won’t talk about it.”
Following the song’s release, a fan commented: “It’s about her sister Haylie!!”
Another fan added: “It’s 100% about Haylie. But not mean at all. Basically telling her to reach out.”
In an interview with Glamour, Hilary shared that she’s ‘had a very complicated life’ and discussed the complexities within her family.
“That’s my family. Those are the people that affect you the most, take up the most space naturally as a human who’s born into something,” she expressed.

She continued: “Just because you’re born into a family doesn’t mean that it always stays together. You can only control your side and your street… I’ve had a very complicated life, and my parents had a very complicated thing.”
“I know it’s not rare, and I think it goes back to the theme of, Why share now? I guess I just felt ready.”

Hilary’s parents, Bob and Susan Duff, parted ways after being married for two decades. In 2008, Bob was incarcerated for contempt of court over the unauthorized sale of family assets.
“Susan was very consumed with the girls’ careers… We simply grew apart,” Bob revealed to Inside Edition.
“I was unfaithful to our marriage. I feel very badly about that and the effect that it had on the girls.”
Attempts have been made to reach out to Haylie for her comments on the matter.
