Ashley Tisdale recently opened up about a decision to distance herself from a “toxic” group of mothers, prompting a reaction from Hilary Duff’s husband.
In her essay for The Cut, the former High School Musical star, who now goes by Ashley French, discussed how she ended her friendships with a particular group after recognizing it wasn’t the best fit for her. She explained that upon realizing she was being excluded from events, she felt the group dynamic had become unhealthy and negative for her.
Though Tisdale didn’t name any of the mothers she parted ways with, speculation arose when the Daily Mail noted that she had unfollowed Hilary Duff and Mandy Moore on social media. However, Tisdale’s representative clarified to TMZ that her essay was not directed at Duff, Moore, or Meghan Trainor, another name mentioned in reports.
Duff’s husband, Matthew Koma, then weighed in on the situation with a humorous twist. He shared a doctored image on Instagram featuring himself in the cover photo of The Cut’s article on Tisdale. His caption read: “A Mom Group Tell All Through A Father’s Eyes. When You’re The Most Self Obsessed Tone Deaf Person On Earth, Other Moms Tend To Shift Focus To Their Actual Toddlers.” He concluded with, “Read my interview with @thecut.”
Koma’s post sparked discussions on Reddit, where some users questioned why he felt the need to get involved.

One commenter noted, “Is this dude running it why’s he so hurt,” while others defended Tisdale, pointing out that she never identified anyone specifically in her piece. “Tisdale literally said nothing identifying,” one Redditor wrote, suggesting Koma’s reaction might inadvertently reveal more than intended.

Conversely, some users praised Koma for defending his partner, with comments like, “Love it when men stand up for their wives.”
Representatives from all sides, including Hilary Duff, Mandy Moore, and Ashley Tisdale, have been approached for comment on the matter.
