Chad Lowe’s Los Angeles community has mobilized to support the actor’s family after the suicide of his 13-year-old daughter, Fiona Lowe.
The teen died on Sept. 29 at a local hospital, according to the Los Angeles Medical Examiner. She was the daughter of Chad Lowe, 56, and his wife, Kim Painter.

“Several families from Fiona’s school have reached out offering how to help,” a source said. “Meal trains as well as GoFundMe accounts were offered because everyone seems to want to help.”
The family has politely turned down those offers. “They are only sharing things with their very small, private circle,” the source added.
Chad and Kim addressed the loss in a statement. “Her passing is devastating for our entire family and we ask for prayers and privacy at this time.”

Fiona’s school has also stepped in to assist students processing the tragedy. A second email went out to parents on Monday from the middle school principal.

“As we begin a new week, I want to take a moment to acknowledge this past week has been a difficult one for many in our community,” the principal wrote. “We know that students, staff, and families may be processing a range of emotions.”
The message continued, “Counseling and wellness supports remain available on campus for students and staff who may need someone to talk with or simply a little extra support.”
It closed with a pledge of continued care: “As we move forward together, we will continue to take care of one another while keeping our students connected, engaged, and learning.”
An initial email had already notified parents that a student had died, though it did not name Fiona.

The Lowe family has endured repeated hardships that previously drew community support. In January 2025, their home was destroyed in the Pacific Palisades fire.

Chad documented the destruction in a social media carousel of photos. “This is what remains of 10 years of building our lives,” he wrote. “Our hearts are broken, but we are comforted by all the well wishes, and offers of assistance. We are ok and will be ok.”
He added, “We have each other. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers.”

Chad, the younger brother of actor Rob Lowe, currently works on the show “9-1-1: Nashville.” He is also known for roles in “Pretty Little Liars” and “Melrose Place.”
