How to improve your marathon pace with Huawei Watch GT Runner 2

With marathon season kicking off, many runners are looking for smart ways to sharpen their pace ahead of race day.

Created in partnership with legendary distance runner Eliud Kipchoge, the Huawei Watch GT Runner 2 has been built to support athletes aiming for a new personal best.

One of its standout tools is Intelligent Marathon Mode, which offers a suite of features including tailored training plans, pre-race prompts, and reminders to refuel at the right moments.

Huawei has also teamed up with the dsm-firmenich running team to further develop the running power metric, giving everyday runners a clearer view of training intensity and helping them manage effort more effectively.

Accessibility features are included too, with a dedicated wheelchair mode that can detect pushing actions while tracking distance, push count, and push frequency.

On the hardware side, it’s billed as the lightest titanium running watch available, and it pairs that build with up to 14 days of battery life plus up to 32 hours of continuous GPS tracking.

Below is a closer look at how it works, along with key details on pricing and features.

The new Huawei Watch GT Runner 2 is now available on the official website here.

Shoppers can choose from three colour options: dawn orange, midnight black, and dusk blue.

Developed with input from Eliud Kipchoge, known for his sub-two-hour marathon performance, the watch is intended to suit both experienced runners and those still building towards major race goals.

It can generate personalised plans aligned to the event you’re training for, offer pacing support during your preparation, and allow post-race milestone sharing.

If you’re not quite ready to line up at the start yet, it also includes adaptive training programmes that can be adjusted to match your current fitness and experience.

These sessions cover a variety of common run types, such as intervals, long slow distance runs, and tempo workouts.

It’s designed for more than running, too, with 100+ sports modes available, including options like golf, skiing, and trail running.
