Hugh Hefner’s widow, Crystal Hefner, has shared insights into her intimate life with the Playboy founder and some challenges she faced during their marriage.
Although Hugh Hefner was known for his luxurious lifestyle at the Playboy Mansion, Crystal reveals that the reality was quite different.
Crystal first met Hugh when she was 21, and he was 60. They married in late 2012 and stayed together until Hugh’s death at 91 in 2017, due to a heart attack, respiratory failure, septicemia, and E. coli, as noted on his death certificate.
Following Hugh’s passing, Crystal penned a memoir detailing the intricacies of their relationship, expressing feelings of being ‘imprisoned’ in the Playboy Mansion.
Her accounts have been supported by other former girlfriends and Playmates of Hugh.
In her memoir, Crystal provides a critical perspective on Hefner’s bedroom skills.

She characterized Hugh as being ‘less sex-savvy than some of the teenage boys I’d been with years ago’ and described their intimacy as ‘odd and robotic’.
To cope, she played the same Madonna track during intimate moments to ensure ‘no other music would be contaminated’ for her.
Moreover, she criticized the mansion itself, claiming it was far from the glamorous image portrayed in popular culture.
Crystal stated, “Everything was moldy and dusty, and it was just hoarder central in the mansion.”
Holly Madison, another former girlfriend of Hefner, also shared her dissatisfaction with her intimate experiences with him.
During an episode of the podcast In Your Dreams in May, Madison expressed her discomfort, stating she ‘hated’ having group intimacy with Hefner and others.

Madison remarked: “When we were alone, it was a different story than when others were in the room. With others, it was disgusting. I hated it. I made it very known I hated it.”
In her memoir, Madison also accused Hefner of being ‘controlling’ throughout their relationship, leading her to feel ‘miserable’.
She observed that other girlfriends seemed to be experiencing a ‘similar situation’, noting that despite trying to enjoy themselves, something seemed off.
