Kristin Cabot’s husband has recently reached out to the public, breaking his silence regarding the contentious Coldplay jumbotron incident.
To summarize, back in July, Cabot was seen on the jumbotron with Andy Byron, CEO of Astronomer.
Cabot was employed at Astronomer as the Chief People Officer. The video captured Byron with his arms around Cabot, who was leaning into him and holding his hands.
During the event, Coldplay’s frontman Chris Martin expressed surprise, saying: “Oh look at these two. Either they are having an affair or they’re just really shy.”
This unexpected interaction led the clip to become a viral sensation on TikTok, amassing hundreds of millions of views.
Following the widespread attention, both Byron and Cabot stepped down from their positions at Astronomer.
It was also disclosed that Cabot has initiated divorce proceedings from her husband, Andrew Cabot.
Andrew Cabot broke his silence, addressing the public following the intense interest in the story over recent months.
A representative for Andrew informed PEOPLE that he and Kristin ‘were privately and amicably separated several weeks before the Coldplay concert.’
“Their decision to divorce was already underway prior to that evening,” the representative explained.
“Now that the divorce filing is public, Andrew hopes this provides respectful closure to speculation and allows his family the privacy they’ve always valued.”
“No further public comment will be made.”
Since the occurrence in July, Chris Martin of Coldplay has also addressed the situation.
In a Reddit-shared video, he stated: “This is called a jumbotron, and we’ve done this for a long long time, and we pick people out to say hello, and sometimes they – yeah, they turn out to be internationally massive scandal, sure.”
Martin added: “But most of the time we’re just trying to say hello to f**king people, that’s all. Now all of this bullsh*t.”
He expressed support for ‘those people’ affected and jokingly cautioned fans about the jumbotron’s presence.
“We’re going to do our f**king kiss cam… so if you’re not prepared to be on international news, please duck,” he humorously remarked.
In Hull, Martin also said to the audience: “Life throws you lemons and you’ve got to make lemonade. We are going to keep doing it because we are going to meet some of you.”
After the incident, Pete DeJoy, interim CEO at Astronomer after Byron’s resignation, discussed the event in an online statement.
“The events of the past few days have received a level of media attention that few companies—let alone startups in our small corner of the data and AI world—ever encounter,” he noted.
“The spotlight has been unusual and surreal for our team and, while I would never have wished for it to happen like this, Astronomer is now a household name.”
Neither Cabot nor Byron has publicly addressed the incident.
