Iggy Azalea reveals why she left OnlyFans despite being a leading celebrity earner

Once a top earner on OnlyFans, rapper Iggy Azalea has shared her reasons for leaving the platform and where her fans can now connect with her.

The music icon, celebrated for tracks like ‘Fancy’ and ‘Freestyle’, joined many celebrities by monetizing her content on OnlyFans, a subscription-based service offering exclusive material to fans.

In 2023, Iggy launched her creative project ‘Hotter Than Hell’ on the platform, reportedly making $48 million in her debut year. Her popularity soared, and at one time, she was said to be earning $9.2 million (£7m) per month.

She has since explained her departure from OnlyFans, now focusing on building a community on Telegram and exploring cryptocurrency, notably with her $MOTHER crypto coin.

While engaging with her audience on Telegram, Iggy noted that her income has decreased, but she appreciates the similar community vibe of the platform.

Appearing on the Unchained podcast with Laura Shin, she remarked: “I mean, I’m sure a lot of people wouldn’t like to hear it in a way because people think about OnlyFans and they think that it’s so sexually deviant and a lot of it is, obviously.

“But a lot of it isn’t, and so for me to say what I’m going to say right now and say it’s really not that different, I’m sure a lot of people would like to think they’re a lot different to the people that go on OnlyFans.”

She also mentioned that her venture into OnlyFans was driven by the desire to share content that wasn’t suitable for Instagram.

Iggy explained: “I ended up getting really sick and not being able to complete that, but what I did learn was that a lot more of my people that I would talk to every day just seemed like they wanted regular human interaction or friendship more than they wanted a transactional relationship.”

Realizing her fans valued personal interaction over provocative content, Iggy understood that it was more about ‘friendship connection’, which surpassed financial gains.

This insight prompted her transition from OnlyFans to Telegram, where she still earns money but through different means. Telegram allows creators to monetize through ads, products, services, or paid subscriptions for premium content.

In June, she informed her followers of her decision to leave OnlyFans, saying: “Hey everyone! I enjoyed our conversations so much – but I’ve decided I don’t have enough time to chat via this page anymore.

“You can find me on telegram. If you miss me too much! Bye for now.”

Iggy has also addressed criticism about her OnlyFans pricing in the past.

In February, responding to a fan’s plea for more content on her page, she clarified her previous fee structure, stating: “Anyone saying that is broke and hasn’t unlocked the paid content because I pose nude.

“It’s $25 entry, not $25 for full access. They thought wrong.”
