Adele is known for creating unforgettable moments on stage, but watching the Olympics in the middle of a show? That’s truly iconic.
The renowned British singer is in the midst of her Munich residency, performing two shows each week from August 2, 2024, to August 31, 2024.
It appears she has already made a viral moment, all thanks to her admiration for women’s sports.
On August 3, Adele took a break to catch up on the 2024 Paris Olympic games, specifically the Women’s track and field 100-meter final.
The ‘Chasing Pavements’ singer chose the middle of her own concert as the perfect time to watch the games.
However, there seems to be some confusion online about which athlete she was supporting.
In the final, Daryll Neita represented Team GB.
But many believed she was cheering for Team USA’s Sha’Carri Richardson instead, as she was heard shouting “Go on, girl!” when the American athlete appeared on screen.
An attendee decided to capture this moment on video and uploaded it to X, formerly known as Twitter, showcasing Adele’s enthusiasm for the Olympics.
The clip shows the women sprinting towards the finish line on a giant screen at the concert, which hosts 80,000 people.
When Adele paused the concert to show the women’s 100m final, the audience applauded her gesture.
One person commented: “She’s a real one for this. We love women supporting women.”
Another added: “That’s a typical Adele thing to do.”
Someone else noted: “If I didn’t respect Adele before, I respect her raised to power 10 million. She’s so real for that.”
This incident highlights Adele’s character and why fans love her.
But the big question remains: when will she release new music?
According to Adele, it’s not happening anytime soon.
Last month, she informed the media that she had ‘no plans’ to release new music.
Given her love for sports, perhaps she could venture into sports commentary instead?
A bit of Adele’s voice cheering on Olympians might just be the motivation they need to win gold.
She told Germany’s ZDF public broadcast service: “I don’t have any plans for new music at all.
“I want a big break after this and I think I want to do other creative things, just for a little while.”
Considering her enthusiasm for the track and field final, you might be curious about the results.
Unfortunately, neither Team GB nor Team USA won gold, but it was a close race for Sha’Carri.
Julien Alfred of Saint Lucia clinched the gold medal with a time of 10.72.
Sha’Carri Richardson finished in second place with a time of 10.87, and Melissa Jefferson took the bronze with a time of 10.92.
