Alyshia Rushing, the TikTok parenting influencer known as Mama A, has died in a two-vehicle crash on an Alabama interstate.
Rushing, 26, was killed on I-85 in Montgomery at around 2:15 a.m. Saturday, according to WAKA Action 8 News. The young mother of four had built an audience of more than half a million followers on TikTok by sharing glimpses of her life raising her children.
Landon Dunn, a 20-year-old Marine driving a pickup truck, was also pronounced dead at the scene. A female passenger in Rushing’s SUV was hospitalized with injuries that were not life-threatening.
“There are no words that can fully express the pain of losing someone so suddenly,” one of Rushing’s loved ones wrote on a GoFundMe page established after her death.
Rushing’s final TikTok post came just one day before the fatal collision. In that video, she captured an ordinary moment of home life: her son vacuuming while she washed up nearby. The domestic scene now serves as her last recorded exchange with the audience that had followed her motherhood journey.
The loss reverberated through her online community. “Thinking about her kids. Man, my stomach is hurting,” one user commented.
Dunn’s best friend and fellow Marine, Robert Howard, also turned to GoFundMe to seek support for funeral expenses and to honor the young servicemember. “Landon and I worked together in the US Marine Corps for a year and a half, and losing him at only 20 years old has been devastating,” Howard wrote on the fundraising page.
The Montgomery Police Department has not publicly detailed what led to the collision on the early Saturday morning. Investigators have not released information about which direction either vehicle was traveling, whether speed or impairment played a role, or if any charges are anticipated.
Rushing’s social media presence centered on the unfiltered realities of parenting four children, a relatability that earned her hundreds of thousands of followers. Her content typically featured her children in everyday scenarios, the vacuuming video fitting squarely within the authentic domestic lens she cultivated.
The dual tragedies have prompted separate fundraising efforts for both families as they confront unexpected funeral costs and the broader financial instability that follows sudden loss. Howard’s appeal for Dunn emphasized the brevity of the Marine’s life and service career.
