Innovative smart glasses introduced with mind-controlled social media scrolling

Meta has announced its latest innovation in wearable technology, introducing smart glasses that enable users to browse social media with subtle mental commands.

The newly launched AI smart glasses, known as the Meta Ray-Ban Display, reflect Meta’s ambition to integrate ‘personal superintelligence’ into everyday experiences.

Central to this technology is the Neural Band, a device worn on the wrist that detects minute electrical signals in the forearm. These impulses, originating from slight hand gestures such as pinching, swiping, and tapping, are captured through electromyography (EMG). This method translates the signals between the brain and muscles into actions.

In essence, users can now navigate their smart glasses simply by thinking about moving their hand.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg described this advancement as ‘huge,’ suggesting that it could eventually replace conventional keyboards.

“As profound as the abundance produced by AI may one day be, an even more meaningful impact on our lives will likely come from everyone having a personal superintelligence that helps you achieve your goals, create what you want to see in the world, experience any adventure, be a better friend to those you care about, and grow to become the person you aspire to be,” Zuckerberg mentioned earlier this year.

These glasses feature a display similar to a phone, visible only to the wearer, allowing functions such as reading messages, viewing photos, making video calls, and accessing real-time navigation without needing a phone.

Equipped with speakers, a microphone, and a discreet camera, the glasses also include an LED indicator to show when the camera is active.

Further enhancing the capabilities, Meta is developing a feature that will let users write in the air.

The integrated AI assistant can respond to inquiries and create images or videos on request, with plans for real-time captioning and translation in discussions.

Regarding cost, the Meta Ray-Ban Display will be available in the US starting September 30, priced at $799. It is anticipated to launch in the UK, France, Italy, and Canada in early 2026.

Additionally, Meta has introduced the Oakley Meta Vanguard, a 66g smart glasses model tailored for athletes. These glasses offer a sportier design, incorporating a camera, built-in audio, a nose grip, and AI capabilities for active use.
