Insights into JD and Usha Vance’s relationship as split rumors circulate after her public appearance without a ring

Speculation has arisen about the marital status of Vice President JD Vance and his wife Usha after she was observed without her wedding ring.

JD and Usha’s personal affairs garnered significant public interest when JD was named as Donald Trump’s vice presidential candidate for the 2024 election.

At 41 years old, JD became one of the youngest individuals in the United States to accept such a nomination.

Their lives came under even more scrutiny when Trump assumed the presidency and JD stepped into the vice-presidential role.

Throughout this journey, Usha, whom JD married in 2014, has been a constant presence by his side. The couple has three children together: Ewan, Vivek, and Mirabel.

Despite their seemingly strong relationship, JD was embroiled in controversy last month following an incident where Erika Kirk was seen hugging him, placing her hand on the back of his head, and apparently running her fingers through his hair.

This gesture was labeled ‘inappropriate’ by many observers.

Since this incident, Usha has been seen without her wedding band. A representative for the Second Lady addressed the situation, telling People that Usha is ‘a mother of three young children, who does a lot of dishes, gives lots of baths, and forgets her ring sometimes’.

In response to the public’s curiosity about their marital status, it is worth revisiting the history of JD and Usha’s relationship.

The couple reportedly met while attending Yale Law School in 2010, as part of a discussion group focused on ‘social decline in white America,’ according to BBC News.

JD recounted in his memoir that he was deeply attracted to Usha from their first meeting and described her as a ‘genetic anomaly’ due to her exceptional qualities.

He admitted that he ‘violated every rule of modern dating’ by confessing his love on their first date.

Usha, formerly known as Chilukuri, married JD in Kentucky in June 2014, a year post their Yale graduation.

They conducted both Christian and Hindu ceremonies, as noted by Business Insider. Usha, who was raised Hindu, is believed to continue practicing her faith, while JD has expressed hope for her conversion to Christianity.

Their first child, Ewan, was born in June 2017, followed by their second son, Vivek, in 2020.

People reported that the family marked Vivek’s 4th birthday on the Senate floor in February 2024, during JD’s tenure as an Ohio senator.

Their daughter, Mirabel, was born in December 2021. JD announced the birth of their third child in a now-deleted Instagram post, stating: “We were blessed with an early Christmas present this year. Everyone please meet Mirabel Rose Vance, our first girl. Mama and baby both doing great, and we’re feeling very grateful this Christmas season.”

While Usha was raised in the Hindu faith, the couple reportedly chooses to raise their children as Christians.
