When considering Donald Trump, there are certain traits that typically come to mind.
Although truthfulness and honesty may not be the foremost qualities associated with the former US president, despite his past court cases and accusations, Trump maintains that he is ‘a truthful person’.
While appearing on the Flagrant podcast with hosts Andrew Schulz and Akaash Singh, Trump addressed topics such as abortion, Kamala Harris, and his perspective on who was really behind the attempt on his life.
During the podcast, Trump stated: “I have a hard time doing it to them, because I am basically a truthful person.”
As Trump continued, the hosts erupted in laughter and questioned: “What does that mean?”
Trump struggled to respond as the hosts seemed amused by his claim of being ‘truthful’.
This segment was shared by a Kamala Harris fan account on Twitter, with the comment: “Trump: I’m basically a truthful person. Podcaster: *bursts out laughing at him*.”
The clip prompted various reactions, with one individual commenting: “He has concepts of being a truthful person”, alluding to the debated September event where Trump faced his democratic opponent.
Others shared similar sentiments: “I certainly couldn’t keep a straight face with that blatant of a lie. He’s the furthest from a truthful person and we see it every single time he opens his mouth.”
“Trump even lies about his lies,” another remarked.
“He’s literally one of the most dishonest people in the world,” added another commenter.
Another viewer noted: “Donald Trump’s claim of being ‘basically a truthful person’ was met with laughter, reflecting widespread skepticism about his credibility.”
Some criticism also emerged: “That comment there will seal his fate. This is a true narcissist. This is someone that has no clue about anything other than what his plans are for himself.”

Trump is currently a contender in the presidential race, potentially seeking a second term in office. He is also the oldest nominee for the Oval Office since Biden’s withdrawal.
Despite his age in the 70s, Trump has addressed whether he would consider running again in 2028 if he does not win this election.
During an interview with Sinclair Broadcast Group journalist Sharyl Attkisson at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Palm Beach, Florida, Trump was asked about his future campaign plans.
When inquired about a potential 2028 campaign, Trump responded: “No, I don’t. No, I don’t. I think that that will be, that will be it. I don’t see that at all. I think that hopefully we’re gonna be successful.”
Though he currently dismisses the idea, it’s possible he could reconsider, as he is no stranger to presidential campaigns.
Trump has launched four presidential campaigns, initially in 2000 with the Reform Party, followed by his victorious 2016 Republican campaign, and then in 2020, when he lost to Biden.
