This Photo Of A Newborn Baby Holding His Mom’s IUD Proves No Birth Control Is 100% Effective

When Texas woman Lucy Hellein found out she was pregnant, she was floored. Just four months earlier, she was fitted with a birth control implant.

Lucy was fitted with a Mirena coil implant, which is inserted into the womb.

It works by releasing a progestogen hormone which thickens the mucus from the cervix. This supposedly makes it difficult for sperm to move through and reach an egg.

Mirena, the IUD brand used by Lucy, claims to be more than 99 percent effective and to last up to five years.

A week before her due date, weighing at 9lbs 1oz, her son Dexter was born by C-section. This little guy is the 0.1 percent.

The bizarre birth led Lucy to post on Facebook a photo of baby Dexter with the caption “Mirena fail.”

Although Dexter was unplanned, Lucy says that she has absolutely no regrets.

Have a good life, Dexter, you lil’ trooper!
