Katya McCarthy celebrated her husband’s first Giants win with a raw Instagram tribute.
The quarterback’s wife, who has been with J.J. McCarthy since their high school days at Nazareth Academy in La Grange Park, Ill., fired off a story post minutes after New York’s 27-21 overtime victory against Houston on Sunday. “God, I love you❤️🔥So deserving,” she wrote, sharing an NFL reel that captured McCarthy throwing his hands up as Devin Singletary crossed the goal line for the game-winning touchdown.

The Giants sideline emptied onto the field in the winning moment. Safety Tyler Nubin was among the teammates who found McCarthy, patting the 23-year-old on his helmet to mark his first start and first win in a New York uniform.
McCarthy arrived in East Rutherford just last month, shipped from Minnesota in exchange for a 2027 fifth-round pick after Jaxson Dart went down with a devastating knee injury. The second-year passer out of Michigan had been buried on the Vikings depth chart following a rocky rookie campaign that saw him throw for 1,632 yards with 11 touchdowns against 12 interceptions.
Sunday offered the stage he had been waiting for. McCarthy completed passes for 252 yards and, though he did not throw for a score himself, orchestrated an offense that saw four different players punch in rushing touchdowns to keep the Giants perched atop a floundering NFC East.

Katya kept the family celebration going after the final whistle. She posted a video of running backs Tyrone Tracy, Cam Skattebo and Singletary huddled together in front of the cameras, adding three clapping emojis to mark the moment.
The couple’s personal timeline has moved fast alongside the football. They welcomed their first child, son Rome Micah, in September 2025, then married the following April in San José del Cabo, Mexico. Through the draft, the trade, and now the starting job in New York, she has remained the constant in his corner.
The Giants made the quarterback change after Dart suffered a meniscus tear, MCL tear and PCL damage that required surgery, leaving the team to look past backup Jameis Winston for answers. Winston, who had started in Dart’s absence, told reporters this week that he understood the decision to go with McCarthy.
Dave Portnoy, the Barstool Sports founder, has already publicly criticized the Vikings for how they handled McCarthy’s development in Minnesota, adding outside noise to what has become a sudden career revival.

New York now turns toward a divisional date with the Eagles in Philadelphia after its bye week. The matchup is set for Nov. 8, giving McCarthy extra time to prepare for an Eagles squad sitting at 2-4 in a conference where every win carries outsized weight.
