Jack Osbourne says his late father Ozzy has found ways to reach him from beyond the grave.
The TV personality, 40, opened up about two uncanny airport encounters that he took as direct messages from the Black Sabbath singer, who died in July 2025 at age 76. Osbourne detailed the experiences during a recent appearance on the Good Night with Ben Gleib YouTube show, describing how the supposed signs lifted him out of a dark mood during a difficult travel day.
“I was on a shoot; I had to go down to Mexico. It was a hellacious travel day, and I woke up, and I’m in a p***** off mood,” Osbourne said on the program. He explained that he had reached the airport already stewing in negativity, headphones on and marching through the terminal with his backpack when a stranger suddenly bumped into him.
The man ran off, likely late for his own flight, but one detail stopped Osbourne cold: the stranger was wearing a vest with a Black Sabbath patch on the back. The moment registered immediately. “Message heard,” Osbourne recalled thinking.
The second incident came once he was airborne on a connecting flight to Guadalajara. Osbourne had settled into a rear seat, anxious to get home to his children, when he removed his headphones to catch a routine announcement. What he heard instead stopped him short.
“I’m in the back of the plane. I’m sat there. I just want to get home to see my kids. And then I take my headphones out because they’re making the announcement. I’m like, just making sure I’m on the right plane,” he continued. “All of a sudden, I hear my dad’s music playing. And I look over to my right and there must’ve been this 70-year-old Mexican cowboy dude sitting there, just watching one of my dad’s music videos.”
Osbourne’s reaction was immediate and unfiltered: “I’m just kind of like, ‘What the f***?’ OK, message heard. Message heard.”
The encounters came during a period of raw grief for the Osbourne family. Ozzy’s death last summer devastated the music world, arriving just weeks after his triumphant “Back to the Beginning” farewell concert at Villa Park in his hometown of Birmingham. The show had marked a celebratory capstone to a career that spanned more than five decades and defined heavy metal for generations of fans.
Jack’s sister Kelly has also spoken publicly about the toll of their father’s passing. In an interview with Mail Online, she admitted she had been unaware how severely her health had deteriorated in the months following Ozzy’s death. The revelation came only when she saw photographs from a Grammy Awards dress fitting in January, shocked by how much weight she had lost.
Discussing the awards ceremony, Kelly said: “I was scared. I wanted to be there to support my mum and to pay tribute to my father’s legacy. But in all honesty, when I reflect on it, I don’t think I should have gone. I wasn’t very well.”
The siblings have been navigating their new reality while honoring the legacy of a father whose influence on rock music remains immeasurable. For Jack, the airport encounters offered something beyond explanation: a sense that Ozzy’s presence persists in unexpected moments, reaching through when his spirits sink lowest.
