Jacob Elordi has shared his admiration for Margot Robbie after collaborating with her on their forthcoming film, Wuthering Heights.
The actor from Saltburn joined Robbie for an interview to promote the romantic drama, which is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release next month.
Given the rapport the duo described while working together, the on-screen chemistry is anticipated to be captivating when the film premieres on February 11.
During a conversation with Fandango, Elordi spoke about the connection he and Robbie developed while filming, with Robbie indicating that the sentiment was mutual.
“We have a mutual obsession,” Elordi stated to the entertainment outlet. “I think the thing is, regardless of plot or screenplay, if you have the opportunity to share a film set with Margot Robbie, you’re going to make sure you’re within 5 to 10 meters at all times.
“Watching how she drinks tea, how she eats her food, how she does it. When is it going to slip? When is the thing going to come undone? And, it never comes undone.”
Elordi further explained that they shared ‘moments looking at each other in character’ where they felt a genuine connection, aiming to reflect this authenticity on-screen.
“The moments when it was good and the love was alive were really sort of pleasurable moments to actually see, because in the book you don’t see them together,” the 28-year-old continued.
“But to actually confirm that love in our version of the narrative, and to see it lived through, was a pretty profound experience.”
Robbie commented that even when she wasn’t filming scenes with Elordi, her character was constantly ‘talking or thinking’ about him.
She elaborated: “They are focused on each other in every single thing they do, which is a really nice and straightforward thing to do.”
Robbie mentioned that this made the character easier to portray compared to one with ‘vague ambitions’. She noted that if her character was consistently focused on Elordi’s character, then she was fulfilling her role in every scene.
