Jamie Foxx recently opened up about his health crisis experienced in 2023.
The actor made an appearance at the Golden Globes on January 5, where he took a moment to speak with Entertainment Tonight as he arrived.
When asked about his recovery from a medical emergency that occurred in 2023, Foxx revealed that he suffered a brain bleed, resulting in a stroke. This life-threatening situation almost claimed the 56-year-old actor’s life, but he has since fully recovered.
Foxx expressed deep gratitude for his daughters, Corinne and Anelise, who were by his side during his recovery. He also recalled a significant moment with one of his nurses in Atlanta, who played a vital role in his care.
The nurse described Foxx as a “five percenter-er,” indicating that fewer than five percent of patients with his condition leave the hospital.
“When I saw it was you, I rolled my sleeves up,” the nurse told him.
When Foxx thanked her, she reminded him of her commitment to all her patients.
“Why you thanking me? You’re not special. I roll my sleeves up for everybody that comes in here,” she said.
This encounter helped Foxx realize that his fame and accolades pale in comparison to the importance of health and well-being.
Foxx’s health issue arose while he was filming his new action movie, “Back In Action,” alongside Cameron Diaz.
The film, which marks Diaz’s return to the screen after a long hiatus, will be available on Netflix beginning January 17.
