Jamie Lee Curtis Emotionally Compares Princess Diana to ‘Vile’ Trump, Breaking Down in Tears

Jamie Lee Curtis criticized Donald Trump while discussing Princess Diana and her significant impact worldwide.

During an appearance on the British morning program This Morning, the actress aimed to promote her new comedy drama, Ella McCay, but also expressed her candid thoughts on the current state of US politics.

Curtis shared with the hosts her almost-encounter with Princess Diana and her admiration for the royal as a role model. This led to a discussion contrasting the influence of the royal family with that of Donald Trump.

While working on the 1997 movie, Fierce Creatures, Curtis was thrilled at the prospect of a visit from Diana and her young sons, Prince William and Harry, to the set.

Unfortunately, she missed the opportunity to meet them but wrote a letter to Diana, receiving a reply a few days later.

Choking up, Curtis praised Diana as an ‘extraordinary person’ and contrasted her impact as a public figure with the political figures in the US today.

She remarked: “What an example [Princess Diana was], and look where I live and look at the example of the people leading my country, and the hatred they spew, and the way they treat people and the way they talk about people and look at the way she lived her life.”

Curtis expressed hope for a shift away from the current political climate in the US. She also specifically criticized Donald Trump for his conduct, particularly towards a female reporter whom he called ‘piggy’.

She elaborated: “I think that his wagging his finger at a woman, calling her piggy… has woken us up to an unacceptable behavior that we cannot have be the legacy of the United States of America.

“I think that unhinged moment of his abuse and vile behaviour is going to be his undoing,”

The referenced incident took place on November 14, involving Trump and Bloomberg reporter Catherine Lucey on Air Force One.

During the flight, Lucey questioned Trump about any potentially ‘incriminating’ information in the latest Jeffrey Epstein emails, provoking an angry response.

Trump pointed at her, saying: “Quiet. Quiet, piggy.”

“You are the worst! You’re with Bloomberg, right? You are the worst!” he exclaimed, adding: “I don’t know why they even have you.”

A White House official later defended Trump’s behavior, telling PEOPLE: “This reporter behaved in an inappropriate and unprofessional way towards her colleagues on the plane.

“If you’re going to give it, you have to be able to take.”
