Jamie Lee Curtis recently responded to an outfit that captivated the attention of many fans.
Known for her direct approach, the 66-year-old star of Freaky Friday has tackled numerous memes about herself in the past.
With her straightforward personality, Curtis naturally decided to address a viral video that featured her discussing Freakier Friday, the anticipated sequel to the 2003 film that just premiered this month.
The Academy Award winner wore an ensemble she referred to as a costume for her character Tess Coleman from Freaky Friday.
“Forgive me, I’m distracted,” one fan commented on the Instagram video shared by Disney Studios, which quickly went viral and inspired a slew of memes.
Curtis decided to respond to the buzz by posting a photo of herself in the outfit, making a peace sign.
In the post, she wrote: “LOVE the fact that the LAST photograph of me as TESS taken backstage in costume from my surprise appearance at @elcapitanthtre to support #freakierfriday has gotten more attention than any other since the announcement post with @lindsaylohan that sparked the movie getting made!
“HAPPY TO HELP SPREAD THE JOY THAT OUR MOVIE SERVES!”
The release of Freakier Friday marks a reunion between Curtis and Lindsay Lohan, 22 years after the original movie’s debut.
In an interview with People last month, Curtis expressed how she values her relationship with Lohan, saying her co-star is someone she can truly ‘trust’.
“If I tell her something, it’s gonna stay with her,” Curtis remarked. “We’ve both been through hard things, ’cause we’re alive and life is hard. And we’re not dead yet. So the truth of our experience together, it belies all of the kind of showbizzy stuff.
“We connected, and we really stayed connected. And that is special and rare for me.”
Lohan had similar sentiments, stating about Curtis: “I have to feel safe around people. And Jamie is one of those people for me. Like, I feel very safe with you. I feel safe telling you things.
“Jamie was with me at a time in my life when I was going through a lot publicly. She was privately really there for me.”
Curtis also offered guidance, with Lohan recalling the advice she received during the original Freaky Friday filming.
“You said, ‘The way you show up to set every day depicts how everyone’s day is going to go. And you set the tone. So leave everything or anything that there may be at home’,” Lohan remembered.
