Jamie Lee Curtis has shared her thoughts on an unexpected romance that’s seemingly gaining attention in Hollywood.
If you haven’t been keeping up, there’s a buzz surrounding Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson, who appear to be quite friendly off-screen. They’ve been seen together during the promotional tour for their upcoming film, The Naked Gun, where their characters, detective Frank Drebin Jr and Beth Davenport, share a romantic storyline.
Both Neeson and Anderson, seasoned actors, have received accolades for their believable on-screen chemistry, which includes an intimate scene in the film.
Neeson, known for his role in Love Actually, had previously mentioned he wasn’t interested in dating again following the tragic passing of his wife, Natasha Richardson, in a ski incident in 2009. In an interview with People last October, he expressed, “I was past all that.” However, fans suspect that there might be more between Neeson and Anderson beyond their roles.
The speculation began when sharp-eyed fans noticed the two sharing what appeared to be a kiss at the movie’s premiere. Craig Melvin from the TODAY show tried to clarify by asking them directly about their status, but their response only added to the confusion.
The rumors gained further momentum after Anderson posted a photo on Instagram promoting the film, capturing Neeson playfully pouring popcorn over her head.
Now, Jamie Lee Curtis, 66, who starred with Anderson in The Last Showgirl, has commented on the matter.
In an interview with VT, the Freaky Friday actress stated, “With all due respect to pop culture, if love has found their way into that relationship, God bless them both!”
“Leave them the f*** alone,” Curtis continued. “And let them like each other because both of them have had hardship and they’re both beautiful humans – it makes me cry.”
Overwhelmed with emotion, Curtis further expressed, “They’re beautiful human beings and if they actually have found an intimate love with each other, we should all go to bed tonight feeling better.”
Close friends and family have largely remained silent on the matter, with Richardson’s sister, Joely, only leaving a few red heart emojis under the picture, while Neeson’s son, Daniel Jack Neeson, commented with several emojis including fire, hearts, and a water pistol.
Anderson’s son, Brandon Thomas Lee, told Access Hollywood that the pair are ‘having a great time’, adding: “It’s fun to see them be, you know, good castmates [and] have a good time.”
Despite the tight-lipped reactions from those close to them, a source revealed to PEOPLE that the couple is ‘smitten with each other’. Their affectionate display during a recent appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen had fans buzzing.
During the show, Andy Cohen remarked, “All your friends are very much ‘stanning’ this relationship, as the kids say. Right, Danny?” To which Neeson’s son responded affirmatively from the audience.
