London-based photographer Chino Otsuka stumbled across a collection of her old childhood photos and was immediately inspired. What if she superimposed her present-day image next to the figure of her child self in the same photograph? The results, as you will see, are pretty amazing. Not only do the photos look completely real, but there is a quiet beauty in each one.

This project appeals to our sense of aging and self. As children, we have no idea what we will grow up to be or what we will accomplish. Otsuka has bridged that gap in the form of photos and presents to the world an intriguing glimpse into what it means to define one’s own identity.
