If you’re a fan of Jason Momoa and his signature mane, you may be surprised by one of his newest appearances. Known for his iconic role in Game of Thrones with a lengthy ponytail and adorned beard, and as Aquaman with his flowing locks, Momoa’s hair is one of his standout features.
Earlier this year, when he shaved off his beard, the internet was in shock. Fans were quick to express their dismay, with comments like “Why did you do that [crying face emoji]” and “PUT IT BACK!!”
Momoa himself confessed he ‘hated’ the clean-shaven look, but he went through with it to promote his initiative of launching aluminum bottles to reduce single-use plastic.
Now, three months later, Momoa has undergone another significant transformation, this time involving the hair on his head.
He stars in a holiday advertisement for Chime bank, playing roles such as a checkout worker, a security guard, and a store employee.
Throughout the ad, Momoa’s hair progressively shortens: starting with a long ponytail, transitioning to a short haircut as a security guard, and culminating in a shockingly bald look as a mattress store employee.
In this final character, he dons a short goatee and a prominently receding hairline, with much of his head bald and shiny.
This dramatic change was quite the surprise for fans accustomed to Momoa’s thick, dark hair. One viewer noted, “I can’t get past the bald top [crying laughing face] so damn funny!!!!”
Fortunately, this look is temporary, and audiences have found humor in the advertisement.
“Loving every second of it,” one fan remarked.
The Chief of War actor expressed his enjoyment in working on the campaign with Chime, stating: “I had a great time collaborating with the Chime team on this campaign.
“We had a lot of fun creating the different characters and bringing the energy of the holidays to life. At its core, the campaign reflects Chime’s mission to have financial tools work harder for people, and capturing that spirit on screen was a blast. I’m excited to see what we create together next.”
