Jean Smart officiated her “Hacks” co-star Mark Indelicato’s wedding to David Watson on Saturday.
Smart, 75, stood between the grooms at the outdoor ceremony and read the declaration of intent to the couple, who both wore black suits and white collared shirts. Johnny Sibilly and Hannah Einbinder shared clips of the moment online.
“Do you, Mark Anthony Indelicato, take David Joel Watson to be your lawfully wedded husband, to have and to hold, from this day forward, in sickness, in health, for richer, for poorer, as long as you both shall live?” she said in footage from the altar.
After Indelicato, 32, agreed, Smart continued, “Then by the power vested in me by American Marriage Ministers, I now pronounce you husband and husband.” The newlyweds sealed the ceremony with a passionate kiss.
The reception brought the couple to the dance floor for their first boogie together as husbands, set to Paul McCrane’s “Is It Okay If I Call You Mine?”
Several of their “Hacks” colleagues joined the celebration. Meg Stalter and Poppy Liu attended, along with co-creators Lucia Aniello, Jen Statsky, and Paul W. Downs. Downs, who played agent Jimmy LuSaque Jr. On the series, posted a group photo to his Instagram Stories with a message for the couple.
“Congratulations @markindelicato & David. Hacks fam 4eva,” Downs wrote atop the photo.
The wedding marked a full-circle moment for Smart and Indelicato, whose professional relationship began on the HBO Max comedy. “Hacks” followed Deborah Vance, a Las Vegas stand-up comedian watching her residency fade, and Ava Daniels, a young comedy writer played by Einbinder who was blacklisted over a tweet. The series ran for five seasons from 2021 to 2026, with Smart’s performance earning her five Primetime Emmy Awards and making her the first actress to win for every season of a multi-season show.
The cast reunion at the nuptials underscored the tight bond the ensemble developed during the show’s run. Smart’s presence at the altar, rather than simply in the pews, signaled the depth of her connection to Indelicato beyond their onscreen dynamic.
Indelicato’s career has spanned from his early role as Justin Suarez on “Ugly Betty” to his “Hacks” role as Damien, the ambitious assistant to Smart’s Deborah Vance. His marriage to Watson came after the conclusion of the series, giving the cast a fresh occasion to gather following their final bows.
Smart has kept busy since the series wrapped, recently landing her first post-“Hacks” role in the rom-com “Egg Baby” opposite Ariana Greenblatt. She also made a rare red carpet appearance with her son Forrest Gilliland at the 2026 Emmy Awards.
