Jelly Roll shares the remarkable effect giving up sugar had on his vision while talking about 200lb weight-loss

Jelly Roll has shared the significant effect that eliminating sugar from his diet had on his vision.

The artist, whose real name is Jason Bradley DeFord, started his weight loss journey in 2022, shedding nearly 200 pounds since then.

During an appearance on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast, he discussed his lifestyle changes, mentioning that he hasn’t eaten bread in two years except for Thanksgiving. He has also been working with a therapist to address his food addiction.

One of the most remarkable changes he experienced was the improvement in his eyesight after cutting out sugar.

Previously color blind, Jelly Roll began to “see clear colors” as he lost weight.

“I was color blind,” Jelly Roll explained. “I saw shades of color, general concepts, but like hunter green, emerald green, green’s green to me… nine months into no sugar, I think I forgot what it was but it was a plant at our house.”

He continued, “I come outside and grab my wife and I go ‘dude, how long have we had that pretty purple tulip there?’ or whatever it was.”

His wife was surprised and told him, “You’ve walked by that plant for two years what are you talking about?”

This newfound ability to perceive color more vividly prompted him to buy coloring sets and books, as he realized the profound impact cutting sugar had on his vision.

“… It must have been the sugar,” he concluded.

In addition to discussing his diet and vision, Jelly Roll also opened up about his relationship with his wife, Bunnie Xo. He admitted that his struggles with addiction had negatively affected their sex life.

On the 2424 episode of the podcast, he confessed, “I realized how much my addiction had been hurting this family. How much my sex life with my wife was horrible. Dude, I married a f**king big tiddy blonde beautiful woman, dawg.”

He added, “I married the kind of woman that makes you smile when you cry, Joe. I couldn’t even get aroused I was so big. I was having to play Twister to have sex, left foot here, right foot on the edge, ‘are we in there yet, tell me if you feel something’, it was bad.”
