Jen Shah will complete her federal sentence and become a free woman on Friday, Aug. 28.
The “Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” alum, 52, will finish nearly eight months of home confinement with an ankle monitor after serving 33 months behind bars at the Federal Prison Camp in Bryan, Texas. While the Federal Bureau of Prisons lists her release date as Aug. 30, that date falls on a Sunday, and BOP policy permits weekend releases to be moved to the preceding weekday.
“Jen is feeling grateful to put this chapter behind her, get back to work and continue her journey of making things right,” a source said.
Shah has been on home confinement since December 2025, when she was transferred from the Texas prison to community confinement overseen by the BOP’s Phoenix Residential Reentry Management Office. A BOP spokesperson confirmed at the time that she had been transferred to community confinement, meaning either home confinement or a Residential Reentry Center, but declined to specify her exact location.
Ahead of that prison release, Shah’s rep described the timing as a “gift she doesn’t take for granted” because it allowed her to reunite with her family for the holidays. The rep also described Shah as being in a “really positive” and “hopeful” place after doing “a lot of reflecting and real growth” while incarcerated.
“Her focus is on her family and building a healthier, more grounded life,” the rep said, adding that Shah understood “the seriousness of the mistakes she made” and was looking forward to showing people “the woman she’s worked hard to become.”

In April, nearly four months after leaving prison, Shah spoke publicly for the first time about her conviction in an interview with People.
“I was wrong. I made wrong decisions. I should have done things differently,” she told the magazine. “I should have been more diligent. And I’m deeply remorseful and sorry for my actions and for my part. I take full responsibility.”
She said in the interview that she had made “horrible business decisions” and “disregarded huge red flags” while becoming involved in what she initially believed was a legitimate business.
Shah is married to college football coach Sharrieff Shah. The couple share sons Sharrieff Shah Jr., 32, and Omar Shah, 22.
In the viral moment that launched her legal saga, Shah was arrested in March 2021 and initially pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud and conspiracy to commit money laundering. She changed her plea to guilty on the wire fraud charge in July 2022. In January 2023, she was sentenced to six and a half years in federal prison and ordered to forfeit $6.5 million and pay up to another $6.5 million in restitution to her victims.
“I am sorry. My actions have hurt innocent people,” Shah said at her sentencing. “I want to apologize by saying I am doing all I can to earn the funds to pay restitution.”
Her projected prison term was subsequently reduced several times before she was transferred out of the Texas facility in December 2025.
Shah pleaded guilty to participating in a telemarketing scheme that defrauded thousands of victims, including elderly and vulnerable people. She and her assistant Stuart Smith were accused of generating and selling “lead lists” of innocent individuals for other members of their scheme to repeatedly scam.
Shah’s former RHOSLC costars have previously weighed in on her possible return to television. On a November episode of “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen,” Meredith Marks, Heather Gay and Lisa Barlow all unanimously agreed they’d rather have Shah return than former cast member Monica Garcia.
Shah will be officially done with her sentence on Friday, Aug. 28, in Phoenix, where she has been serving her home confinement.
