Jennifer Garner Opens Up About the Challenges of Divorce from Ben Affleck in Emotional Confession

Jennifer Garner has shared insights into the challenges she faced following her separation from Ben Affleck in 2015. Their relationship, under public scrutiny for years, has been a topic of interest due to their celebrity status. The couple ended their marriage after a decade and have three children together: Violet Anne, Seraphina Rose, and Samuel.

The public has consistently been intrigued by their breakup and the personal lives of both Garner and Affleck post-divorce, which was finalized three years after their initial separation. Despite the media attention, both have largely remained private about their reasons for splitting.

In a conversation with Marie Claire UK, Garner, who is now seeing businessman John Miller, discussed the emotional difficulty of ending her marriage.

Garner expressed the challenges she faced by stating, “You have to be smart about what you can and can’t handle, and I could not handle what was out there.” She pointed out that the real difficulty lay in the reality of the situation, saying, “The actual breaking up of a family is what was hard. Losing a true partnership and friendship is what was hard.”

After the split, Garner emphasized the importance of community support, saying: “I make a big, concerted effort to see my people as much as I can, because that’s what matters. That’s where your resilience is: it’s in your relationships and in the people who carry you through.”

While discussing her upcoming roles, including the next season of her AppleTV+ series “The Last Thing He Told Me,” Garner also mentioned her current priorities. She focuses on her advocacy work with Save the Children US, Once Upon a Farm, and her children.

Speaking about her children, she remarked, “They’re just so cool. Parenting now has shifted. It’s more about parenting with a button on my mouth…. You have to let them grow up and make their choices. You don’t get to control it.”

On the topic of co-parenting with Affleck amid intense public scrutiny, she described it as ‘the hardest thing.’ She clarified, “Not hard in the grand scheme of what is hard in the world, but tricky for me and tricky for my family.”

Things seem to have improved over time, as it was reported that Affleck spent the recent Christmas with Garner and their children.
