Jennifer Lawrence and Cooke Maroney anticipate arrival of their second child

Representatives for Jennifer Lawrence have confirmed that she is expecting her second child.

A spokesperson for the actress shared the happy news with Vogue.

Lawrence and her husband, Cooke Maroney, who tied the knot in October 2019, are already parents to their two-year-old son, Cy.

The actress confirmed the birth of her first child with Maroney during an appearance on Ellen DeGeneres’ talk show.

DeGeneres, who previously owned the house where Lawrence now resides, commented: “Now I live next door to you, and I’m looking at you living in my house with a brand new baby.

“By the way, I do hear you sometimes talking to him, and it’s really cute.”

In 2023, the “No Hard Feelings” star had a conversation with Kylie Jenner for Interview magazine, discussing her experiences with parenting.

She described how her perspective on security evolved after becoming a mother.

“I didn’t have that much security before I had a kid but, once I had one, with my intrusive thoughts and anxiety, I wanted us to have security around all the time,” she shared.

Initially, Lawrence preferred her security team to remain ‘invisible’ to her son, but her thinking shifted.

“Once they start working for you, it’s like, ‘Well, wait. This is a person in our life. He’s helping us’,” Lawrence commented on the role of her security.

“That’s not really a good lesson to ignore the person that’s helping us. It’s probably better to say, ‘Say good morning to Sean. Hi. How are you?’”

She added: “We’ve incorporated them more in our lives, which surprised me. That wasn’t how I planned it.”

In the previous year, the Oscar-winning actress discussed her upbringing in a Republican household and her unsettling dreams involving conservative Fox News host, Tucker Carlson.

Lawrence, who was raised in Louisville, Kentucky, talked about the difficulties in reconciling her views with those of her conservative family, particularly after the overturning of Roe v. Wade, which left many women in the US without access to safe abortions.

She expressed her frustration, stating: “I’ve tried to get over it and I really can’t. I can’t. I’m sorry I’m just unleashing, but I can’t f**k with people who aren’t political anymore. You live in the United States of America. You have to be political. It’s too dire. Politics are killing people.”

Touching on the controversial case, she reflected: “I remember a million times thinking about it while I was pregnant. Thinking about the things that were happening to my body. And I had a great pregnancy. I had a very fortunate pregnancy.

“But every single second of my life was different. And it would occur to me sometimes: What if I was forced to do this?”
