Jennifer Lawrence has opened up about her perspective on cosmetic surgery after viewing herself in a scene where she is completely nude.
The actress, now 35, was both a producer and star in the 2023 Netflix comedy “No Hard Feelings,” a departure from her wholesome role as Katniss Everdeen in “The Hunger Games” series.
In this film, Lawrence plays Maddie, who is hired to assist a 19-year-old in losing his virginity before heading to college.
The comedic nature of the film required her to spend an entire day shooting without any clothes, a situation that didn’t seem to bother her much.
She humorously expressed to Variety: “I didn’t even have a second thought. It was hilarious to me.”
Nonetheless, as a mother of two, she has now disclosed her serious consideration of cosmetic surgery after struggling with her body image.
During an interview with The New Yorker, Lawrence asked if she could vape throughout the conversation, mentioning she would need to quit by November due to an upcoming breast augmentation. Nicotine can complicate healing by constricting blood vessels.
The Golden Globe winner shared that she had been contemplating the procedure since the birth of her second child, noting that her body has not returned to her desired shape post-pregnancy.
The interviewer highlighted her ability to perform an intense fight scene while nude in the 2023 movie after giving birth.
In this scene, her character confronts a group of intoxicated teenagers attempting to steal her clothes, a moment audiences described as ‘fearless’ and possibly the ‘greatest fight scene ever.’
Despite the impressive scene, Lawrence appears more concerned with her physical appearance.
When questioned about her decision to consider a breast augmentation, she candidly stated: “Everything bounced back, pretty much, after the first one.
“Second one, nothing bounced back.”
With plans to appear nude on camera again in the spring, a year after giving birth, Lawrence feels compelled to take action.
“Maybe I wouldn’t be hustling to the appointment in the same way,” she said when asked if her decision was influenced solely by her upcoming nude scenes. But as a prominent actress, she admitted she would still likely proceed with the surgery, even without the pressures of Hollywood.
When asked about other cosmetic enhancements, Lawrence expressed no interest in fillers due to concerns they might be visible on screen.
However, she admitted to having tried botox, even though it might affect her ability to convey emotions and use her forehead in various acting roles.
