Jennifer Lawrence shares her comfort level during intimate scenes with co-stars

Jennifer Lawrence recently discussed the anxiety she experiences while filming and shared a particular preference she has for shooting intimate scenes.

For Hollywood actors, performing in kiss scenes or sex scenes is sometimes part of the job, and they are expected to execute these moments convincingly.

However, these scenes can still be awkward, even when it’s clear that the actors are not actually engaging in sexual activity.

Jennifer Lawrence has candidly talked about the unease and anxiety she encounters when filming intimate scenes, along with a specific approach she prefers.

In a conversation with Josh Horowitz at 92NY about her recent film, Die My Love, in which she co-stars with Robert Pattinson, Lawrence admitted that she continues to feel anxiety before starting a new project.

She mentioned that she likes to tackle the uncomfortable scenes early on, especially when collaborating with someone for the first time.

Discussing a particular scene from the film, where she performed a ‘naked sex tiger’ with Pattinson, Lawrence shared that they tackled this on the first day of filming, which was easier because they were essentially strangers.

She noted: “It was actually easier that way because Rob and I did not know each other, which is kind of better, you know.”

Lawrence then reflected on the intimacy scenes she filmed with her longtime friend Josh Hutcherson during their time in the Hunger Games series.

With a laugh, she added: “Like in Hunger Games, like me and Josh Hutcherson would have to kiss and that’s like… Imagine it.

“You know, it’s weirder and so yeah, doing it with a stranger is preferable.”

Lawrence has also previously praised Pattinson for his acting talent, as he portrays her character’s husband in the film.

Speaking to V Magazine, she remarked: “Rob brought so much more dimension to the film as a whole.

“He really held firm with this kind of backbone for his character which gave me so much more to push back against.

“I’ve never worked with an actor who was really in such a similar place as me in our lives, being new parents, which was so lovely and also built up natural trust.

“Rob is sensationally smart and really sweet. So it was fun. I enjoyed working with Rob immensely.”
