Jennifer Lopez has initiated divorce proceedings against Ben Affleck.
The actress filed the legal paperwork on Tuesday (August 20) at the Los Angeles County Superior Court.
As per TMZ, the documents were filed pro per, meaning Lopez submitted them herself without the help of a lawyer.
Lopez reportedly indicated April 26, 2024, as the date of their separation.
The documents do not specify whether there is a prenuptial agreement between the two.
This implies that any earnings Affleck and Lopez accumulated during their two-year marriage would be treated as community property.
Additionally, Lopez has reportedly waived spousal support and is requesting the judge to deny Affleck any support as well.
The couple married in a Las Vegas ceremony on July 16, 2022, followed by a traditional wedding in Savannah, Georgia, on August 20, 2022.
Notably, Lopez filed for divorce on the second anniversary of their traditional ceremony.
The duo had been the subject of divorce rumors for a while, but nothing was confirmed until now.
This will be Lopez’s fourth marriage and Affleck’s second. They do not have any children together, so there are no anticipated custody disputes.
This situation is still unfolding and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
