Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night talk show is set to make its return tonight (September 23) after being taken off the air ‘indefinitely’.
The show was halted after Kimmel made controversial remarks regarding Donald Trump and his response to the death of Charlie Kirk.
In last Monday’s episode (September 15), Kimmel stated: “We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them, and doing everything they can to score political points from it.
“And in between the finger-pointing, there was grieving on Friday. The White House flew the flags at half-staff, which got some criticism, but on a human level you can see how hard the president is taking this.”
Kimmel further criticized Trump, suggesting that instead of mourning, he was more focused on the construction of a new $200 million state ballroom at the White House.
“Yes, he’s at the fourth stage of grief: construction. Demolition, construction. This is not how an adult grieves the murder of someone he called a friend. This is how a four-year-old mourns a goldfish, OK?” Kimmel remarked.
In response, ABC affiliates decided to pull Kimmel from the airwaves, with The Walt Disney Company, which owns ABC, supporting the decision.
However, Disney has now announced the return of Kimmel’s show following the temporary suspension.
“Last Wednesday, we made the decision to suspend production on the show to avoid further inflaming a tense situation at an emotional moment for our country,” the company stated. “It is a decision we made because we felt some of the comments were ill-timed and thus insensitive.
“We have spent the last days having thoughtful conversations with Jimmy, and after those conversations, we reached the decision to return the show on Tuesday.”
Nonetheless, Sinclair Broadcast Group, the largest ABC affiliate, is still refusing to broadcast the show across its networks.
Kimmel’s return to television on Tuesday night coincides with speculations of another significant event: the return of Jesus Christ.
Online discussions have been buzzing after a pastor proclaimed that God would return to ‘rescue the Christians out of the world’ on September 23 and 24.
South African Pastor Joshua Mhlakela, in a YouTube video, predicted that this week, God’s judgement would leave the world ‘unrecognizable’, forecasting an event so powerful it would cause the Earth to ‘shake’.
Similar to the peculiar coincidence of Trisha Paytas’ children’s births aligning with the deaths of prominent figures, social media users have speculated about another possible pattern. This aligns with Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish new year.
On X, one user commented on Kimmel’s return: “Would be so funny if he goes live and the rapture starts in the studio.”
Another hinted: “There’s a rapture tomorrow and Jimmy Kimmel has a chance to do the funniest thing ever.”
A third person remarked: “Jimmy Kimmel’s returning on rapture day?? Coincidence??”
While a fourth added: “Nothing is a coincidence. It’s all connected.”
Jimmy Kimmel Live! is scheduled to air tonight at its regular time of 11.35 pm Eastern Time, 10.35 pm Central Time, and 11.35 pm Pacific Time.
Whether or not the rapture will occur remains to be seen…
