Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner Conclude Year-Long Divorce Battle

Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner have officially concluded their divorce, bringing an end to their marriage.

A judge in Florida declared the marriage ‘irretrievably broken,’ slightly over a year after Jonas initiated the divorce proceedings on September 5, 2023.

The couple shared a joint statement on their Instagram accounts, informing the public of their decision to end their four-year marriage.

In the statement, they expressed: “Statement from the two of us: ‘After four wonderful years of marriage we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage,'”

“There are many speculative narratives as to why, but truly this is a united decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children.”

The divorce filing submitted by Jonas stated that ‘the marriage between the parties is irretrievably broken.’

This was officially confirmed by a Florida judge on September 10, finalizing the end of Jonas and Turner’s marriage.

The judge also allowed Jonas, 35, and Turner, 28, to bypass the 20-day waiting period for the final judgment.

Court documents reveal the judge stated: “The marriage between the parties is dissolved and the parties are restored to the status of being single.”

In documents submitted on September 21, 2023, Turner claimed that the marriage deteriorated ‘very suddenly’.

This reportedly occurred following a disagreement on August 15, 2023.

Turner also asserted that she discovered their separation ‘through the media’ several days after Jonas filed for divorce.

The divorce filing indicates that Jonas and Turner have a prenuptial agreement in place.

The couple also reached a temporary arrangement for their children to stay in New York until a custody resolution could be determined.

During this period, Turner filed a lawsuit against Jonas for wrongful retention of their daughters.

She accused Jonas of withholding the children’s passports, preventing them from returning to the UK, a claim she later dropped in January 2024.

Turner addressed the custody dispute in an interview with British Vogue in May 2024.

The Game of Thrones actress shared her feelings about the custody battle, stating she was ‘unhappy’ with how it had ‘played out’ regarding their children.

She commented: “They’re the victims in all of this. But I think we’re doing the best we can. I’m confident that we can figure it out. Joe is a great father to our children and that’s all that I can ask for.”
