Joe Manganiello Responds to Sofia Vergara’s ‘Untrue’ Divorce Allegations

Joe Manganiello has responded to Sofia Vergara’s comments on their divorce, providing his own perspective on why their seven-year marriage ended in July 2023.

Despite Vergara’s candid explanations in a recent El País interview, where she attributed their split to differences in family planning desires, the situation appears more complex.

The celebrity couple, whose divorce surprised many, cited ‘irreconcilable differences’ in legal documents as the cause of their breakup.

Vergara shared her side of the story, discussing deeply personal decisions and feelings about not wanting more children at her age.

“I am a recently divorced woman. My marriage broke down because my husband was younger, wanted to have children, and I didn’t want to be an old mom,” the 51-year-old actress explained.

Despite their minor age difference, Vergara felt they were on different paths, emphasizing that she’s prepared to be a grandmother rather than a mother again.

Throughout this personal challenge, Sofia remained optimistic, attributing her resilience to her Colombian heritage.

“Colombians go through so many terrible things, and we always know how to see the cheerful side of life because otherwise, we couldn’t live,” she reflected.

Contradicting the narrative, Manganiello expressed his discontent with being depicted as having a ‘midlife crisis’ in a revealing interview with Men’s Journal.

“There’s been a lot said in the press about me wanting a family, that’s simply not true. We did try to have a family for the first year and a half,” Manganiello clarified.

The actor discussed their early relationship conversations, emphasizing that he was upfront about his acceptance of Vergara’s stance on having more children.

“I swore to her that I would never leave if it didn’t work out. And I didn’t,” he stated, frustrated by the misrepresentation of his character in the media.

Manganiello summed up the marriage’s end as a natural parting of ways, reflecting, “two people grew apart, and sometimes that happens.”
