JoJo Siwa has recently addressed her relationship with Chris Hughes following his surprising comment about being single and living alone.
This revelation was unexpected for fans of the 22-year-old Siwa, who stirred up controversy when she began dating the 32-year-old British reality TV star. The couple first crossed paths on the UK series Celebrity Big Brother in April, at a time when Siwa was still involved with Kath Ebbs. Although they initially claimed to be ‘platonic’ friends on the show, their relationship evolved once filming ended.
Reports suggest that Siwa ended her relationship with Ebbs at the show’s wrap party, and soon after, she started dating Hughes. Just two months later, she expressed her feelings to the Guardian, stating, “It’s not platonic any more, and it’s been a beautiful development, a beautiful connection, and I’m absolutely head over heels for him and he’s the same way.”

The public nature of their romance took a turn when Hughes, on the UK version of MasterChef, commented about being single. He stated, “So, I live on my own. I’ve been single for three years, so it’s not like I’m cooking for anyone,” and added sorrowfully, “If I’m just cooking for myself, no one can appreciate it, apart from me. It’s quite sad really, isn’t it? I need someone there to show off to in the kitchen, I’ve got the judges.”
This revelation left many of Siwa’s fans in disbelief, but she seemed to address the situation with a statement celebrating their six-month anniversary. Siwa, who had a recent health scare due to a burst ovarian cyst, dismissed breakup rumors with a heartfelt Instagram post, saying, “6 months (heart emoji), wouldn’t trade one day for anything.” She also shared a video of them dancing and expressed her happiness over the past six months, mentioning her excitement to spend Christmas in England with Chris.
While there was speculation about potential issues in their relationship, Hughes’ ‘single’ status was simply a case of timing. The MasterChef episode was filmed prior to Celebrity Big Brother, although it aired later. This aligns with Siwa’s ‘six month’ post, indicating they started dating in May.
A fan clarified the situation, writing, “They announced in May that he had filmed MasterChef before Big Brother. They didn’t know if it was ever actually going to air.” This comment likely refers to a situation involving John Torode, who appeared in Hughes’ MasterChef episode and faced subsequent issues on the show.
Since their relationship began on UK television, Hughes and Siwa have enjoyed spending quality time together, including trips to Mexico and the Bahamas. Recently, they collaborated on sponsored content for Primark, showcasing their relationship during a festive event. The advertisement read, “Celebrating Our First Christmas together at Primark’s Christmas House.”
