JoJo Siwa reflects on the realization to ‘improve her life’ following Celebrity Big Brother

Singer JoJo Siwa has shared insights about her time on Celebrity Big Brother, revealing it prompted her to consider making changes in her life.

At 21, Siwa joined the Celebrity Big Brother house earlier this month with notable stars like Chris Hughes, Danny Beard, Trisha Goddard, and Mickey Rourke, who departed the show following some contentious remarks.

While participating in the British reality series, Siwa made headlines by sharing that although she had always identified as a lesbian, her time on the show led to a different understanding of her sexuality.

She stated: “I think being here, I’ve realized I am not a lesbian, I’m queer. And I think that’s really cool—I’m switching letters! I’ve dropped the L and I’ve gone to the Q, baby! That’s what I love about sexuality.”

After the show concluded, Siwa appeared on the British chat show This Morning today (April 28), where she discussed her experience further and how it had influenced her perspective.

In the interview, Siwa recounted how the initial days in the Big Brother house were ‘fun’, but by the third day, she found herself alone with her thoughts.

Away from outside influences, she noted: “I sat with myself and I really realized things that I was OK with – I should not have been OK with.”

Host Cat Deeley questioned whether Siwa was referring to her relationship with Kath Ebbs, whom she broke up with during the Celebrity Big Brother wrap party. Siwa acknowledged this as one of the aspects she was alluding to.

She elaborated: “[I mean] so many things, that is one of them, but so many things. And then I, you know, obviously I wanted to hold them inside, though, because I didn’t want to air that out very publicly.

“But there were countless things that I was like, that’s not something that I should be OK with and I don’t need to be OK with and I’m not happy, and I knew as soon as I got out, I wanted to fix things in my life and make the changes that I needed to make.”

The reality star described her Big Brother experience as ‘exhilarating’, adding: “It’s 20 days, but it feels like it’s four and a half years, and the first thing you want to do when you get out is just exactly what you need to do in your life to make it as good as you can.”

“And I think I realized just how not great things were that I was pretending they were great.. And it’s been hard, but it’s been good. And I’m very happy with where I am now. I’m very grateful.”

During the interview, Siwa also mentioned that she didn’t intend to end things with Ebbs at the wrap party but when questioned about her happiness, she straightforwardly answered: “No.”
