The Hunger Games actor Josh Hutcherson recently faced backlash from some Taylor Swift fans after candidly sharing his opinion on the singer before the release of her new Disney+ docuseries, The End of an Era.
This docuseries, which debuted on Disney+ today (December 12), is touted as providing an ‘unprecedented backstage pass’ to Swift’s groundbreaking world tour. It promises to delve into ‘the development, impact, and inner workings’ of her highly acclaimed Eras Tour performances.
The release of the series coincides closely with Swift’s 36th birthday, which is tomorrow. Though many of Swift’s devoted fans, known as Swifties, are eager to watch the series, Hutcherson is likely not among them.

During an interview with his I Love LA co-star Jordan Firstman for i-D Magazine, Hutcherson shared his views on Swift.
In a clip posted on the publication’s TikTok, Firstman asked Hutcherson if he considered himself a Swiftie. Hutcherson replied, “I’m not a Swiftie. Very much no. No shade, all respect, but definitely not.”
Firstman humorously remarked there might be a ‘little tiny shade’ in Hutcherson’s response but added, “She can handle a little bit of shade.”
Although Swift might take Hutcherson’s disinterest in stride, her fans have been quick to voice their support for her in the TikTok video’s comments section.
In response to Hutcherson’s remarks, one commenter noted, “just a ‘no’ would be enough omg.”

Another commenter felt Hutcherson’s comments were overly blunt, saying, “the way he worded is simply rude. he couldve said like ‘not really’ or ‘not yet’ but the way he said it it seems like ‘im not and what about it’. idgaf about josh but i wont bear if anyone disrespect taylors music.”
However, not everyone disagreed with Hutcherson. Some viewers found his comments refreshing and appreciated his honesty.
“Just when I think he can’t get any more attractive,” one TikTok user wrote, while another added, “This is literally the first time I’ve heard a famous person say they’re not a swiftie (because I think they’re all scared of the swiftie wrath) and it’s refreshing ngl.”
With Hutcherson’s new HBO series I Love LA now available for streaming, viewers can decide whether to support Swift or Hutcherson in their weekend viewing choices.
Representatives for Hutcherson have been contacted for further comment.
