Shia LaBeouf was reprimanded by a judge during a recent court hearing after his arrest in New Orleans earlier this month.
The actor was taken into custody on February 17 amid Mardi Gras celebrations, accused of “terrorizing” the city, and charged with two counts of battery connected to an alleged altercation outside a bar.
LaBeouf, 39, was released a few hours after his arrest and was initially allowed to leave without posting bond.
At the time, the judge was not aware of allegations that he used homophobic slurs during the reported confrontation, The Guardian reported, which is said to be why he was permitted to leave.
He returned to court yesterday (February 26), appearing before Orleans Parish Criminal Court Judge Simone Levine with his lawyer, criminal defense attorney Sarah Chervinsky.

During the hearing, Judge Levine criticised the Transformers star’s approach to treatment, raising concerns about the allegations in the case.
“This defendant does not take his alcohol addiction seriously.
“This court does not believe he understands the level of seriousness when it comes to these allegations.”
She also described the incident as an issue of broader public safety, particularly in relation to “the safety of this larger community, especially relative to a marginalised community that has gone through so much terror,” referring to the LGBTQ+ community.
Judge Levine set new bail conditions, ordering LaBeouf to post $100,000 and requiring him to return to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.
He was additionally instructed to enroll in a drug-testing program, and the judge required him to take a drug and alcohol test immediately.

After the hearing, LaBeouf posted bail and declined to answer questions from reporters.
“No, I won’t say a word,”
“God bless you, leave me alone.”
He has not yet formally entered a plea.
Judge Levine also rejected a written request from LaBeouf seeking permission to travel to Rome, Italy, in March for “religious observations, including his father’s baptism.”
She further instructed him to avoid the alleged victims and to stay away from the bar where the incident is said to have taken place.
LaBeouf is scheduled to return to court on March 19, according to PEOPLE.
